What is a digital profile page?
A digital profile page is your personal or professional home on the web, built for phones: one page that says who you are, what you do, and how to work with you. In CardDeck, it sits behind your digital business card and every QR code you share.
What a profile holds
- A short bio: what you do and who you do it for
- Services or specialisms
- Work samples, case studies, projects or media
- Links to your website, social profiles and portfolio
- A booking button for calls or meetings
- Contact buttons and a Save contact button
- An optional form for visitors to share their details
How it connects to your card
Your digital business card is the quick summary: name, title, contact. Your profile is the full story. The card has a View profile button and the profile has a Save contact button, so people move between them naturally.
Where your profile link lives
- Social media bios
- Your email signature
- Proposals, invoices and pitch decks
- Conference badges and slides
- The QR code on a paper business card
Who benefits most
Freelancers, consultants, founders, creators and anyone whose work is easier to show than describe. See how freelancers use digital profiles to win work from a single link.
How is a digital profile different from a link-in-bio page?
A digital profile does the job of a link-in-bio page, then adds what a business contact needs: a save-contact button, contact exchange, your brand and a connection to your business card and QR codes.
What they share
- One short link that works in any social bio
- A mobile layout with buttons to your other pages
What a CardDeck profile adds
- Save contact: a vCard that adds you to the visitor's phone with your photo, title and company.
- Contact exchange: visitors can share their details back, with consent recorded.
- Your brand kit: the same logo, colors and fonts as your card, not a generic theme.
- Connected QR codes: every card and code you print opens the same profile.
- Search control: choose whether search engines can index your page.
- Analytics: see views over time and by channel.
When a link-in-bio is enough
If you only need a list of links for a social audience and never meet people professionally, a simple link page may be all you need. As soon as people want to save your contact, book you or hire you, a profile does more.
One profile or several?
Each card can link to its own profile. A consultant with two practice areas, or a founder who is also a speaker, can keep separate profiles with separate QR codes. Pro includes 5 cards.
What should you put on your digital profile page?
Lead with one sentence that says what you do and for whom, follow with proof, and end with one clear action. A profile that answers "can this person help me, and how do I start?" quickly gets more bookings than a long list of links.
A proven order of sections
- Headline: "Brand strategist for climate startups" says more than "Consultant".
- Photo and name: so people recognize you from the meeting.
- Short bio: two to four sentences. Write in the first person.
- Services: three to five, each with a one-line description.
- Proof: projects, case studies, publications, talks or credentials. Only use proof you own and can share.
- Call to action: one primary button, such as Book a 20-minute call.
- Contact and links: email, phone, website and two or three social profiles.
Writing tips
- Use the words your clients search for, not internal jargon.
- Replace adjectives with specifics: "Rebuilt onboarding for a 40-person SaaS team" beats "results-driven".
- Keep paragraphs short; most visitors read on a phone.
What to avoid
- More than one primary call to action
- Long CVs; link to one instead
- Testimonials you do not have permission to use
- Outdated work at the top
Keep it current
Review your profile once a quarter. Because every card and code points to it, one update reaches everyone who has your link.
Can your digital profile appear in search results or stay private?
You choose. Profiles can be public and indexable by search engines, public but link-only, or hidden from search entirely.
Visibility settings
- Public: anyone with the link can view it, and search engines can index it. Your name and title become the page title, with a clean, readable URL.
- Link-only: anyone with the link can view it, but it asks search engines not to index it.
- Hidden: switch the profile off when you do not want it seen.
When public makes sense
- You want clients to find you by searching your name and specialism.
- You are building a personal brand as a speaker, author or consultant.
- Your profile is a better result for your name than old pages you cannot control.
When link-only makes sense
- You share the profile only with people you meet.
- It contains a phone number or booking link you do not want widely indexed.
- You are between roles and prefer to stay quiet.
Control what appears
Whatever the setting, show only the details you choose. You can hide your phone number, show only email, or drop contact details entirely and rely on the booking button and contact exchange form.
Analytics privacy
Visitor analytics are aggregated: counts, dates, channel, device type and approximate region. CardDeck stores a visitor's details only if they choose to share them through the form, which records consent and a timestamp.
Who uses digital profiles, and what do they cost?
Digital profiles suit anyone who is hired, booked or introduced as a person rather than a product: freelancers, consultants, founders, creators and community members. Every CardDeck plan includes a shareable profile link, including Free.
Typical setups
- Freelancers: services, rates, portfolio and a booking button.
- Consultants: one profile per practice area, each with case studies; see consultant business cards.
- Founders: company, role, deck link and calendar for investors, hires and customers; see cards for founders.
- Communities and alumni groups: a profile card for every member in the community's style, building a shareable directory; see community member profiles.
- Speakers and authors: talks, books and a contact form for organizers.
Plans
- Free: a profile with your card, at a carddeck.co link, with a small CardDeck badge.
- Pro: $8 per month, or $6 billed yearly. 5 cards (each can link to its own profile), no CardDeck badge, contact capture for 1,000 contacts and basic analytics.
- Business: adds a custom domain, advanced analytics and multiple brands.
Getting started
Create your card first, then add profile sections one at a time. Most people publish a useful profile in under half an hour, then improve it as they collect proof.
